The post-mix of episode 104 was a playlist created by James Lamport and began broadcast at x:xxpm[2] BST.

When I was 13 years old in 1983, a very decent chap called Dave Hall recognized there was not much to do for the youngsters like myself in the New Forest community. He & our local Vicar Norman, set up a Youth Club in our local church rooms and every Wednesday evening it was the highlight of the week for everyone who attended. With the help of subs & donations, he bought 2nd hand mobile disco equipment so we could have our own disco night. Do you remember them very large flight cases that held 2 Gerrard decks with a simple mixer & amp? Well this to me was like looking at heaven and I was soon THE person to play the 7” singles on disco night.

By the late 80s, me & my mate Roger had bought our own twin decks, lights, speakers etc & we were officially a Mobile Disco for hire. Dave Hall contacted us and asked if we could help him host a ‘Golden Oldie’ night one evening. Sure, I said (Roger declined, bellend).

So, basically all I did was supply the equipment with Dave (and punters) supplying the 7” singles and what order to play them. It a huge success and it became a regular night for a while. It was an education to me, not just hearing those wonderful songs but dancing too with my friend’s parents, grandparents, aunts & uncles. Some of my old school friends would come along too as word got around how much joy these nights were.

So I want to share with you & the gardeners one of those nights with the same kind of format (much shorter of course) There’s Pop, Soul, Ska, Northern Soul, Rock n Roll and maybe a bit of Swing in this mix and to note, that in the middle & at the end there a few slow numbers.

I actually had a few tears of joy making this because it brings back such beautiful memories mate. I really hope you & the listeners enjoy this as much as I did making it.
